Harold Pinter received a Special Award to mark the Evening Standard Theatre Award's 50 th Anniversary

It's really a great pleasure to have received this award from my indeed very old friend and colleague Peter Hall. 46 years ago my play The Birthday Party was performed in London and was slaughtered by the critics, particularly the Evening Standard by the way. It came off in a week. But, in the early New Year I'm happy to say that rehearsals will start for the 4 th revival of the play since its first production – in London . So not only is this award very gratifying in itself, it's also gratifying in terms of its timing. Thank you very much. Harold Pinter
